High-end measurement technology from sensor connection to the cloud: Beckhoff will demonstrate the advantages that an end-to-end measurement chain offers for test benches and DAQ applications from May 6 to 8 at Sensor + Test: Booth 330, Hall 1. From automotive suppliers to certified testing institutes, plenty of companies already count on Beckhoff‘s system-integrated measurement technology. A new generation of EtherCAT Terminals with high-precision multi-functional inputs and outputs with variants for the hydrogen industry and e-mobility expand the range of applications for PC-based control.

The Beckhoff measuring chain
Optimal combination of hardware and software modules creates a complete measurement chain:
- variable – IP20 and IP67 sensor connection to I/O modules

Cascaded cell voltage measurement with EtherCAT Terminals:
EL3008-0003 (8 x ±3 V) and EL3008-0005 (8 x ±5 V)
- precise, fast, and high-resolution – short and long-term monitoring of individual cell voltages, e.g. in accumulators and fuel cells
- multi-functional – measurement of stacked voltages up to 1,500 V CAT II
- efficient – fewer test leads when recording big cell stacks thanks to cascade wiring

- versatile – dynamic detection of rotational movement, acceleration (vibrations), and component positions

I/O: A new generation of analog terminals
- flexible use – support for all standard signals in the ±10 V and ±20 mA range (EL307x, EL407x, EL4374)
- maximum accuracy – analog uncertainty below 0.1% and extended measurement/output ranges (±107%)
- powerful – loads of up to 750 Ω (current) or > 2 kΩ (voltage) can easily be connected
- fast response times – 16-bit resolution and conversion rates of 2 ksps for precise control
- simple commissioning – plain text description of values with floating point numbers minimizes errors
