The terminal facilitates the integration of any CANopen devices in the EtherCAT Terminal network and can be used as a master (EL6753) or slave (EL6753-0010). What’s more, general CAN messages can be sent and received without having to deal with CAN frames in the application program. The hardware of the EL6753 supports the CAN FD physics, via the layer 2 implementation both the flexible data rate and/or the extended data field with up to 64 bytes can be used. The terminal offers high-performance CANopen protocol implementation with many features:

 

  • All CANopen PDO communication types are supported: event-driven, timer-controlled (event timer), synchronous, and polling.
  • synchronization with the task cycle of the PC controller
  • SYNC cycle with quartz precision for drive synchronization, zero cumulative jitter
  • parameter communication (SDO) during start-up and runtime
  • emergency message handling, guarding, and heartbeat
  • high-performance parameter and diagnostic interfaces
  • online bus load display

 

Like the FC5101 CANopen PCI card, the EL6753 is used to connect to CANopen networks; however, it saves space since it does not require PCI slots in the industrial PC.
