The 2-port EtherCAT junction enables configuration of EtherCAT star topologies. A modular EtherCAT junction can be implemented by using several EP1122-8001 units in one station. Individual devices or complete EtherCAT segments can be connected at the junction ports. The EtherCAT junctions are connected via M8 sockets with display of link and activity status. The Run LED indicates the status of the EP1122-8001. Through TwinCAT and other suitable EtherCAT masters the EP1122-8001 also supports coupling and uncoupling of EtherCAT segments during operation (Hot Connect).

The EP1122-8001 supports Fast Hot Connect technology on the top two ports. This facilitates significantly faster connection of the EtherCAT components in applications with changing topologies. Compared to Hot Connect, which is an EtherCAT feature and enables direct coupling and uncoupling of components during system operation, Fast Hot Connect offers even faster data transfer and allows even faster tool changes. The Fast Hot Connect ports are specially marked, since they may only be combined with each other. The EK1122-0080 EtherCAT junction with Fast Hot Connect can be used to configure a star topology in the control cabinet. The two bottom ports are standard ports.
