Measurement technology with Bus Terminals: Functional overview and parameterisation

Bus Terminals | Measurement technology using analog input terminals on the K-bus: Overview and parameterisation

In addition to the high-precision measurement technology provided by the EtherCAT Terminal system and the EtherCAT measurement modules, measuring tasks can also be accomplished using the proven Bus Terminals. In this 30-minute webinar. Martin Podrouschek, Product Manager Fieldbus Systems, presents an overview of measurement technology using analog input terminals on the K-bus and the options for parameterisation.

EL3602 | EtherCAT Terminal, 2-channel analog input, voltage, ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, ±1.25 V, 24 bit, high-precision

EL3602 | EtherCAT Terminal, 2-channel analog input, voltage, ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, ±1.25 V, 24 bit, high-precision

The EL3602 analog input terminal handles signals in the ranges ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V and ±1.25 V. The voltage is digitized to a resolution of 24 bits, and is transmitted, electrically isolated, to the higher-level automation device. The input channels of the EtherCAT Terminal have differential inputs and possess a common, internal ground potential. The signal state of the EtherCAT Terminal is indicated by light emitting diodes.

Accelerometers with IEPE interface can be directly connected to the EL3632 EtherCAT Terminal. The measuring signals are analyzed on the PC via the TwinCAT library. This enables all benefits of the PC platform, such as performance and flexibility, to be fully utilized. Alternatively, custom software can be used for the analysis. The terminal can be adapted to individual requirements through configurable filters and supply currents.

EL3692 | EtherCAT Terminal, 2-channel analog input, resistance, 100 mΩ…10 MΩ, 24 bit

The analog EL3692 input terminal enables direct resistance measurement in nine measuringe ranges from 0…100 mΩ to 0…10 MΩ. The circuitry of the EtherCAT Terminal enables measurement in 2- and 4-wire versions. The EL3692 offers measuring range selection, either automatic or through the controller. Due to the galvanic isolation, a live power object can also be measured in single-channel operation. The EtherCAT Terminal indicates its state through LEDs. Malfunctions such as broken wires are indicated by error LEDs.
