AX1000 | Economy servo drives

Ultra-compact servo drive for dynamic positioning tasks

The AX1000 economy servo drive is a cost-optimized AX series device that still meets the most stringent technological standards.
The AX1000 economy servo drive is a cost-optimized AX series device that still meets the most stringent technological standards.

The AX1000 economy servo drives are a particularly cost-efficient series that meets the highest technological standards. Two versions are available:

  • one for the low power range with a single-phase supply of 1 x 110 V AC to 240 V AC
  • one for the higher power range with a three-phase supply of 3 x 208 V AC to 480 V AC

Despite their compact dimensions, they still manage to incorporate an integrated power supply for 24 V DC, DC link capacitors, a ballast circuit, and – in most variants – a ballast resistor. The power supply generates the control voltage from the DC link voltage. Both versions are available as single-axle and dual-axis modules. Supported motor types include the AM8000 synchronous servomotors with One Cable Technology (OCT), in addition to asynchronous and reluctance motors.

The AX1000 ultra-compact servo drive is fully integrated into the TwinCAT system via EtherCAT, providing the usual convenience for commissioning, operation, and diagnostics. The TwinCAT 3 Drive Manager 2 serves as the commissioning tool, and its structured design and wide range of functions make commissioning the axis simple and intuitive.

Drive-integrated safety functions

The AX1000 economy servo drive supports TwinSAFE as standard in order to implement the STO/SS1 drive-integrated safety functions in accordance with IEC 61800-5-2. It is available with the option of the following TwinSAFE Safe Motion safety functions:

  • stop functions (STO, SOS, SS1, SS2)
  • speed functions (SLS, SSM, SSR, SMS)
  • position functions (SLP, SCA, SLI)
  • acceleration functions (SAR, SMA)
  • direction of rotation functions (SDIp, SDIn)
  • brake function (SBC, SBT)

TwinCAT 3 Autotuning is also available to simplify the commissioning of servo axes by automatically identifying the mechanics and determining the load inertia, controller parameters, and filter settings, as well as TwinCAT 3 Bode Plot Base, a graphical engineering tool for optimizing drives.

The design of the drive, particularly the dimensioning of drive axes, in conjunction with the optimum selection of the motor, gear unit, drive controllers, and accessories, is the foundation for efficient machine design. The TwinCAT 3 Motion Designer tool can be integrated in the TwinCAT automation platform or used as a stand-alone project engineering tool for drive design.

The TwinCAT 3 Safety Editor and the TwinSAFE Loader/User are available for the implementation of safety projects, enabling intuitive and fast parameterization.
