Integrates process technology into the overall control system:
Engineered surfaces play a major role in the performance and durability of products; similarly important is attractiveness for consumers through an expected flawless appearance. From cars to electrical and domestic appliances, furniture to packaging, it is difficult to imagine any object that does not need surface coating. Industrial coating technology is therefore a broadly diversified market, resulting in strict requirements on the mechanical engineering, process technology and automation. At the same time, serious price pressures in the consumer product markets increases the demand for efficient solutions that deliver high productivity and high system availability without a high cost.
As an expert in PC-based control technology, Beckhoff has been a partner for machine builders for more than 40 years and offers a high level of expertise in the control of machines and plants. The control system can be designed to suit individual performance requirements with a comprehensive portfolio of modular and scalable control components, from industrial PCs to I/Os, and drive technology to automation software. A comprehensive range of hardware and software interfaces enable seamless integration of robotics, CNC, safety and measurement technology, as well as the networking of plants and systems to secure cloud integration. Based on distributed clocks technology, the high-speed EtherCAT communication system supports the precise synchronization of processes, such as high-precision dosing of dyes and solvents. Precise control of temperature and coating thickness, as well as emissions monitoring can be carried out using measurement I/O modules, which integrate seamlessly into the EtherCAT Terminal system. The data is acquired by the EtherCAT Terminals and processed in the standard PC-based control system.
Through the integration of components that ensure explosion protection, Beckhoff can automate plants in hazardous areas up to zone 0/20. Universal integration of the HART protocol in the TwinCAT automation software enables the use of comprehensive functions from the engineering interface. With an integrated FDT container, field device DTMs can be opened from inside TwinCAT, offering all configuration options on one software platform. The Beckhoff ComDTM enables seamless integration of Beckhoff remote I/Os into existing supervisory process control systems. It can also be used to conveniently incorporate field devices that are connected to HART-enabled EtherCAT Terminals into any FDT containers.
