

TwinCAT Scope has been on the market for many years and enables the graphical representation of process data in various chart types, from simple line charts to XY charts and 3D charts. Textual representations are better for some applications, such as comparing numerical values. TwinCAT Scope therefore has a new table chart.

The table chart is a table that can display grouped variables from the Scope data pool. This is a normal Scope configuration, which means that table charts can be inserted into existing configurations. The table is more than just a list of variables with live data; it has many useful functions. For example, the variables can be displayed in different formats, such as decimal, hexadecimal, or binary. There are columns where minimum and maximum values are recorded from the start of recording. This information can be switched on and off individually, as can all other columns such as comments, physical units, data types, etc.
One special feature is the snapshot function, which, thanks to efficient data management in TwinCAT Scope, can be used to freeze the values of a table with cycle accuracy and add them to the table for comparisons as a new column. Deviations from current values are clearly shown with greater than and less than symbols.

The filter function is helpful when the table is used for a targeted purpose. With the filter, you can efficiently search the tables within the chart and display filtered views. Complex input, which may refer to names, data types, values, and other properties, is possible. Logical links can also be implemented. This reduces the table to the essential content while still recording all relevant data from the original configuration in the background. When users want to convert a table to a line chart, they can do so quickly and easily at the touch of a button, and the usual view is available alongside the table.
The new table chart offers a high level of flexibility and, as a text display, is a valuable addition to the previous chart types in TwinCAT Scope. The table will be available for TE1300 TwinCAT 3 Scope View Professional and for the basic version of Scope in TE1000 TwinCAT 3 Engineering.
