AM8000 – Dynamic power packages made in Germany

The servomotor range AM8000 stands for durable and powerful synchronous servomotors. Five sizes, each with three overall lengths provide seamless coverage for all areas of application. The high-performance servomotor series is characterised by a very high power density. Small end turns and the fully potted stator give a perfect thermal contact between the stator and the motor housing.

The motors are highly dynamic as a result of low rotor inertias coupled with an overload capability of up to 5 times. The motors are optionally equipped with the proven resolver (2-cable technology) or the innovative OCT feedback system. With the OCT One Cable Technology, the encoder cable is spared. The feedback signals are transmitted digitally over the existing standard motor cable. It is possible to reduce the wiring costs by up to 50 %.

All five sizes are of modular construction, thus mechanical adjustments to suit customer requirements can therefore quickly be made. With a guaranteed service life of 30,000 h for the wearing parts such as ball bearings, special focus was made on the durability and robustness of the motors. Matching accessories such as gears and ready-made motor and encoder cables are available.

 

AM8100 – Servomotors for OCT servo terminal

The AM81xx series is equipped with the One Cable Technology (OCT) and suitable for operation on the EL7201-0010 servo terminal. Homing is no longer necessary thanks to the integrated absolute encoder. The encoder data are transferred fully digitally to the servo terminal via the motor cable, allowing the encoder cable to be dispensed with.

Options such as a backlash-free permanent magnet holding brake, a rotary shaft seal or a feather key groove are available on request. The motors are equipped with a sturdy rotary resolver encoder and have been developed with a generously dimensioned bearing for general mechanical engineering.

 

AM8500 –Servomotors with increased rotor moment of inertia

The AM8500 series extends the servomotor range by a complete series with increased rotor moment of inertia. The AM8500 series covers a wide performance range with four sizes and three lengths with standstill torques from 1.38 to 29 Nm. Due to the high rotor inertia the control of the AM8500 is simplified in areas where a high external inertia has to be moved, because the servomotors tend less to vibrate and can be adjusted much more easily on the servo controller.

 

AM8800 - stainless-steel motors with hygienic design

The stainless steel motor range AM8800 is based on the AM8000 range specifically to be suitable for use in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The design of the motors complies with the EHEDG requirements and the material used with the FDA guidelines. The motors are made from AISI-316L stainless steel, making them resistant to aggressive cleaning materials.

All AM8800 motors comply with protection class IP 69K and are provided with a hygienic-design cable gland. There are four ranges available, each with three available lengths. The AM8800 range has One Cable Technology (OCT) as standard; a resolver with two-cable technology can be provided if required. As an option, a sealing-air connection or suitable stainless steel gears of hygienic design can be provided.

 

AM3xxx – high-dynamic brushless servomotors

The low-inertia servomotors of the series AM30xx are brushless three-phase motors; the rotors contain high-grade neodymium. This permanent magnetic material makes a significant contribution to the motors exceptional dynamic properties. Consequently the AM30xx synchronous servomotors are mainly used in high-dynamic motion applications.

The single-tooth-wound servo motors from the AM31xx series are suitable for operation on the EL7201 servo terminal. Planetary gears and ready-made connecting cables are available as accessories.

The motors of the AM35xx series with higher inertia are suited for applications in which very high load inertias need to be moved.

The AM30xx and AM35xx incorporate resolvers as the standard feedback unit, but they can also be fitted with single-turn or multi-turn absolute encoders. The connection plugs can be rotated continuously. The cables for resolvers, encoders and power are available as ready-made accessories from Beckhoff and supplied in various lengths. The protection class of the motors is IP 65/64 and can be increased to IP 65/65 with the use of a sealing ring. Planetary gears of type AG2xxx are available as accessories for the servomotors.

 

Compact power packages: Linear Servomotors AL2xxx, AL3xxx

The AL2000, AL2400 and AL2800 Linear Servomotors complement the AM2000 servomotors and can be used wherever rotary design reaches mechanical limits during installation, or where special drive characteristics, in terms of dynamics, synchronism or acceleration, are required. Linear Servomotors are easy to set up and are not subject to mechanical wear. Several motors can be used simultaneously on the same path. Moreover, there are virtually no limits on travel options. With their high acceleration characteristics, Linear Servomotors can achieve positioning velocities of up to 10 m/s – with a high force constant and a very good force/mass ratio.

All three series of motors have the same pole spacing. This has the advantage that the procedure for adjusting the drive amplifiers and the adaptation to a linear encoder or the MES system is always the same, which saves time during commissioning. In principle, it is possible to operate several primary sections on one magnetic track. This significantly reduces the installation and component costs and opens up application options that would not normally be considered for linear motors.

In contrast to the AL2000 series, the linear motors from the AL3000 series have no iron core. This has the advantage that the coil part is not attracted by the permanent magnets and that cogging, i.e. the occurrence of cogging thrust due to magnetic forces between the permanent magnets and the iron core, is avoided. The benefits of ironless linear motors are particularly significant in semiconductor and plasma/LCD panel production, where highly synchronous operation and positioning quality are required.

 

Scaleless feedback system for AL2xxx Linear Servomotors

The operation of linear motors requires a feedback system for the commutation and for monitoring of the speed and position. Normally, this measuring system consists of a reader head and a scale, mounted parallel to the travel path. The additional expenditure for the complete system increases with the length of the travel path. For this reason, Beckhoff has developed a measuring system that monitors the magnetic field of the permanent magnets of the magnetic plate and provides the AX5000 series Servo Drive with incremental transducer signals for commutation, speed and position control. The measuring system provides one sinusoidal oscillation per logical motor revolution. A logical motor revolution corresponds to the distance between two homopolar magnets, i.e. for example between two north poles. With 24 mm, this distance is very short for the AL2xxx series linear motors, resulting in very high resolution. This leads to particularly synchronous operation and low running noise. The achievable precision between ±0.1 mm is adequate for simple positioning tasks and largely depends on the mechanical precision and position of the travel path magnets. The influence of temperature fluctuations and external interference fields is compensated.

 

Stepper Motors AS1000

The stepper motors from the AS1xxx series for the lower and medium performance range include different motor types with torques between 0.38 Nm and 8 Nm.

Beckhoff focuses on modularity and scalable power in compact drive technology: various connections in the format of a Bus Terminal or an EtherCAT Terminal (IP 20) support AC and DC motors as well as stepper and servomotors of various performance classes. In addition, the EtherCAT Box modules (IP 67) for stepper and DC motors are available for use without control cabinets.
