The Beckhoff control solution is based on a uniform hardware and software platform consisting of Industrial PCs, Embedded Controllers, EtherCAT and decentralised I/Os and drives. TwinCAT is an integrated automation software, which bundles all the machine functions that are required, including PLC, Motion Control, CNC, robotics, HMI, vision, safety and measurement technology, cloud communication and data analysis.
TwinCAT handles all runtime functions in real-time and simultaneously serves as a development environment for programming, diagnostics and configuration, with all main IEC 61131-3 programming languages and interfaces for C/C++ and MATLAB®/Simulink® modules. Open interfaces open up a wide range of options, such as integration into existing visualisation, control and database systems. TwinCAT also supports functions and protocols that determine the implementation of the Smart Connected Warehouse concept as new standards for Industrie 4.0 and IoT solutions.

The Industrial PC series launched with the C6015 is characterised by a small footprint, universal applicability and flexible installation. The C6017 offers additional interfaces and an integrated UPS. The C6030 provides maximum computing power with four cores and up to 3.6 GHz per core. The series is complemented by the new C6032, which offers additional interfaces compared to the C6030.

With the new generation of Beckhoff safety controllers, the intelligence of the entire safety application is distributed via the TwinSAFE Logic-capable I/O modules. This enables even more efficient and flexible modularization and adaptation to the specific safety requirements of individual machine concepts.

The AMP8000 servomotor with directly integrated servo drive paves the way for the minimisation of the control cabinet. The performance values remain unchanged with a virtually identical size. Reduction to a single coupling module supplying several servomotors via a single cable saves material, space, costs and mounting effort.

TwinCAT Vision integrates image processing tasks directly into the PC-based automation platform, including detection, measurement, identification, pick-and-place and quality control. In addition, all control functions derived from the image processing can be synchronised precisely in real-time in a runtime. Engineering takes place directly in the PLC.
